As we see more consumers staying home — many no longer commuting for work — there is ample time during the day to exercise.

We’re seeing this clearly in our data: Stationary bikes, athletic shoes, boxing gloves, heart-rate monitors, weights, and sports bras have been some of the hottest-selling items throughout the past few months.  

It will be interesting to see how these purchases, along with new behaviors from consumers, will shape the fitness community moving forward.  Will commercial gyms see a decline in new or renewed memberships? Will some smaller gyms or fitness clubs be required to close completely? Only time will tell, but this appears to be the beginning of a new way to think about fitness and exercise among most consumers.
